About Us

Oregon High School Equestrian Teams (OHSET) started in the Southern District in 1993, with a vision for high school students. This vision saw a competitive outlet for students who loved horses and sought equal recognition to other athletic programs. What founding members didn’t foresee was the impact this program would have on thousands of students’ lives and communities. OHSET has created a niche for students, some of whom had never previously participated in school activities, and many did not see themselves as a part of their school community.

The Southern District is composed of youth from Josephine, Jackson, and Klamath Counties. We hold three, three-day District Meets each season beginning in January and ending in April. Our athletes compete against each other, riding for their high schools, in individual and team events. These include Gymkhana, Equitation, Drill Team, Roping, and other cattle events. State Qualifiers will then compete in May against other State Qualifiers throughout Oregon. Here, they have the possibility of qualifying for the Regional Meet where they compete against teams from Washington, in June.
